The Chickens Have Been Handled

Want to know what happened to yesterday’s fully intact chickens?

Although there were no takers, there were lots of supportive emojis, a few good suggestions, and 1-2 replies of consternation.

Sara decided to follow the advice about asking the butcher, so this morning she took an Uber and the chickens back to Continente. This is a reenactment of what happened, per Sara:

Butcher: How many pieces you want? Small? Large?

SD: Just the components parts?

Butcher: <takes an extremely large cleaver and starts hacking off parts and holding them up for Sara to see>

Butcher: <holds up the head with his eyebrows raised in question>

SD: <shakes her head no>

Butcher: <laughs, then waves the neck expectantly>

SD: <shakes her head no>

Butcher: <laughs, then holds up both feet. >

SD: <shakes her head no and closes her eyes>

Butcher: <disassembles the rest of the chicken and starts to combine the bag of entrails>

SD: oh no, I don’t need those either.

Butcher: <chops up the other chicken, goes into the back and packages everything up, hands it over, and laughs>

Sara came home and put one of the chickens in the freezer and made stock with the other. She’s making my favorite chicken noodle soup tomorrow.

Ready to be made into stock.
These will go in the fridge overnight, and the fat will be skimmed off the top in the morning.
We thank the chicken and veggies for their service.
