The Knitting Walk

Morning walks in Braga are my favorite, particularly on lovely autumn days like today. With no pressing errands, I grabbed my project bag and headed out.

The plan: A long walk, stopping at interesting spots along the way to knit, documenting each stop with a picture. My only rule was that I had to knit at least one row per stop.

So join me on this walking tour, as we knit and wander the city streets together.

Knitting at Tofa. Was there any doubt this would be my first stop?
This guy wanted me to stop for gelato, but I had other plans.
Knitting on a bench on a cobblestone street. The people-watching was excellent.
Knitting in a garden. The city takes pride in these spaces, and I counted eight workers gardening today.
This space invites you to take a deep breath and enjoy the moment.
Knitting with Superman! I feel an attachment to this candy shop for some reason.
Knitting near the Braga sign. I was here for a while – this is a popular tourist spot and everyone wants a picture.
This little train does a tour through the city, and always makes me think of my Dad.
A long green space in the city center. It’s a great place to walk under shade trees.
Knitting in the park, with pigeons.
Wandered down a new-to-me street and found another lovely little garden.
Knitting near street art. This long wall is near our local hospital. I got some funny looks as I stood there, knitting away.
Knitting at a new café. Coffee is always a good idea.
A short detour for provisions. American vodka to get through next week’s midterm election, and champagne to celebrate when…well, you know.
Knitting in front of a building that may be a church, a small museum, possibly a restaurant, or some combination of the above. I will investigate and report back.
Final stop, lunch at Dona Petisca. The bifana was excellent.

Four-and-a-half hours later, and I’m back home. Tired and happy. I hope you all can breathe deep and enjoy a walk in your neighborhood this weekend. 🧶
