A day at the beach and a week in review.

Fridays are beach days.

Today we took the (correct) train to Porto, then a fast, slightly unhinged 😳 Uber to the beach! We still marvel that we can decide to see ocean and within 90 minutes, behold! Ocean! A fun way to cap off the week.

Behold!
We are big fans of the bad selfie, but this one is OK!
I do love a boardwalk.

OK, let’s see, what else did we get up to this week? On Monday, I went on a long walk, ostensibly to run errands, but here it doesn’t feel like work. Went to a fancy and very old pharmacy. Found a coffee roaster that has been selling beans since 1948. The sweetest woman helps you decide which roast to buy, then weighs out your beans and wraps them in paper, tied up with string (these are a few of my favorite…I digress).

I don’t remember CVS looking like this.
Found the good coffee beans!
Brown paper packages, tied up with string…

On Tuesday, we attended our first Portuguese class! We lasted about 15 minutes. In summary – too hot, too loud, and a timid instructor reading from a guide…it wasn’t the right fit for us. I’m going to stick with online training for now, and we will revisit classroom training in the Fall.

We’ve been busy unpacking since our boxes arrived last week, and on Wednesday morning, our Russian handyman Stas came over – he removed all of the empty boxes for recycling, took all our unneeded items for donation, and even removed the broken end table! We still have so much organizing to do, but it looks and feels way better. Also, shout out to my BFF for helping us pack boxes in KC and adding fun notes for us to find!

Miss you too!

Wednesday was also the first Portugal World Cup match! The city was buzzing with excitement, but although we briefly considered joining in the festivities, the Ogan-DeLongs are not what you would call “sports people”. I know, sacrilege, whatever. New country, same me.

On Thursday, I did some cooking, went to Braga Parque, (a large shopping mall), and helped the family with some printer tech support. My oversees rates are fairly reasonable.

Which brings us to today, and our day at the beach!

Hope you all have had a good week. ❤️
